Hi, I’m Jacky.
I’m a Canadian journalist based between Toronto and Nairobi. My work focuses on humanitarian issues, social justice, and women’s rights.
I’ve reported from a dozen countries on issues including the famine in Ethiopia, the refugee crisis in Uganda, and the state of emergency with regard to sexual violence in Sierra Leone. Previously, I’ve worked as a TV reporter in Kenya and a human rights media trainer in Ghana.
I also support nonprofits with multimedia storytelling and advocacy campaigns.
In addition, I’m a social entrepreneur. As the founder of New Lens Travel, I host trips to Africa that highlight the local storytellers rewriting narratives about the continent.
I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out.
